What's New?

08/20/08: I haven't touched this site in almost two years?! Jeebus. Okay, I gave the bibliography a long-overdue update and sprucing up, made my bio relevant again, informed the top-level page that I'm no longer married, and fixed a bug that rendered the site unusable under IE 7. Possibly at the expense of being able to use it under IE 6. God, I hate Microsoft. Anyway, more updates will soon come. I hope.

Conventions

Here's how things work in this place:

Sidebar

As you explore, you'll see occasional links that look something like this. (Footnote -- like this!) Clicking them will display some little footnote thought over there on the right. Give it a click; it's harmless. Go on. You know you want to. (Footnote -- G'wan!)

Hidden Blocks

You'll also run into links that look like this. In the "Breadcrumbs" box above or the "Navigation" box over on the left, they'll take you to other pages on this site. But when you spot them here in the main section, that means there's a bright shiny block of hidden text waiting for you. Click on the link to see what I mean.

External Links

Finally, any links that take you away from the site look like this. And no, they won't open a new window for you; isn't that annoying? If you really want a new window, right-click and select "Open Link in New Window".

Script-Free VersionHowever, for users like you who prefer to cruise with JavaScript turned off, things work a little different. Neither the "Sidebar" nor the "Hidden Blocks" links are going to work as advertised for you. In fact, they won't do a damn thing, as you've probably already noticed. So, all the sidebar text will appear at the bottom of the page arranged like footnotes, and all the hidden text will be visible. In addition, next to those "sidebar" links, you'll notice text that looks like this. Click the one in the sidebar description above; it'll take you to the appropriate footnote at the bottom of the page. If you turn JavaScript back on, those links will simply vanish. I respect your decision to run without JavaScript, which is why I've tried to make the site usable for you. However, for you, it's going to be pretty clumsy and cluttered; if you turn your JavaScript back on, I promise I won't use it for anything evil. However, if you're an Internet Explorer user, maybe you should consider switching to a different browser -- one without quite so many security holes, one that isn't quite so eager to spam you with pop-up messages. Something like Firefox, or Opera. You'll be glad you did.
