EXT: EMPIRE STATE BUILDING: DAWN
DRISCOLL
Oh, no! He's going to climb the building! With Ann!
LITTLE BILLY
Somebody needs to do something!
DENHAM
We might have missed our chance, son. Apes are like Communism; if you don't kill 'em when they're small, they get so big you just can't manage 'em!
KONG climbs the building clutching ANN who is still yelling and flailing and such.
DRISCOLL
Look, Mr. Denham! Over there!
DENHAM
Ha! Serves me right for doubting!
LITTLE BILLY
Are those airplanes, Mr. Denham?
DENHAM
Even better, Billy; those are AMERICAN airplanes! Built with good old-fashioned American ingenuity, piloted with American guts and courage! That big ape's goose is cooked now!
KONG puts ANN down and battles the airplanes, jumping around and hooting and hollering and beating his chest and such. The airplanes shoot him a lot; KONG gets lucky and smacks one of them in the wings, causing it to crash into the street.
LITTLE BILLY
Oh, no! He got one!
DENHAM
Don't fret, Billy. We'll still come out on top, even if that monster has his little victories now and then.
LITTLE BILLY
Just like Communism?
DENHAM
Exactly, my boy, exactly!
The planes shoot KONG so much he looses his grip and plummets to his death on the street below.
LITTLE BILLY
Wow ... the airplanes got him all right.
DRISCOLL
Oh no, 'twasn't the airplanes. It was Beauty killed the Beast.
DENHAM
What? Balderdash! That ape might have looked tough, he might have made a lot of noise, but when push came to shove, he found out what the rest of the world already knows -- there's nothing on Earth that can lick the American military!
LITTLE BILLY
Say ... I didn't notice it before, but doesn't he kinda look like that Lenin fella?
Close-up of KONG, whose face is indeed a dead ringer for Vladimir Lenin.
DENHAM
He sure does, Billy. He sure does.
